Sam Hallam - A Question of Innocence

In October 2004, Sam Hallam - a 17 year old Hoxton man - was arrested and charged with the murder of trainee chef Essayas Kassahun during a confrontation in the Finsbury area of London. Sam was later convicted of the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

In September 2007, ITV's Tonight with Trevor McDonald broadcast 'A Question of Innocence' about  Sam's case presented by the actor Ray Winstone whose nephew was a friend of Sam.

Sam Hallam was released and exonerated by the Court of Appeal in May 2012.
